Mattel is celebrating 25 years of Halo with a new collector-focused building set based on one of the franchise’s most recognizable military vehicles.
The Mattel Brick Shop Hot Wheels Halo UNSC M12 Warthog Building Set recreates the vehicle at 1:22 scale using 935 pieces. The set is currently available to preorder through Mattel Creations for $76 in the United States.
Although some reports have referred to the product as a MEGA set, Mattel’s official listing places it under the Mattel Brick Shop Hot Wheels line. The bricks are compatible with Mattel’s other construction products and building sets from other major brands.
A Detailed Recreation of the UNSC Vehicle
The completed model is based on the UNSC M12 Warthog, the all-terrain military vehicle that has appeared throughout the Halo games.
Mattel has equipped the model with independent suspension, allowing its wheels to react separately when the vehicle is moved across uneven surfaces. The build also includes officially licensed wheel covers and a rear-mounted Gauss cannon.
The cannon can be swapped, while extra construction pieces allow owners to modify parts of the vehicle’s appearance. Two sets of wheel covers are included, giving builders additional display options.
A decal sheet provides further customization, allowing the model to be adjusted rather than displayed in only one predetermined configuration.
Metal Components Give the Model a Premium Finish
The Warthog is primarily constructed from interlocking resin bricks, but several metal components are included.
Mattel says the set features metal wheel covers alongside a signature display plate. These additions distinguish it from more traditional plastic-only building sets and support its positioning as a collector product aimed at buyers aged 17 and older.
The pieces use a smooth resin design intended to connect easily, while step-by-step instructions guide builders through the assembly process.
A Matching Hot Wheels Warthog Is Included
The larger build is accompanied by a matching 1:64-scale Hot Wheels die-cast Warthog.
Rather than selling the smaller vehicle separately, Mattel includes it in the same anniversary package. The die-cast version can be displayed beside the completed 1:22 model and its signature plate.
The complete box contains:

- One 1:64-scale die-cast Warthog
- Two wheel-cover sets
- Swappable and additional customization parts

No Master Chief, Spartan or UNSC Marine figures are listed among the official contents of this particular set.
Part of Mattel Brick Shop’s Elite Series
The Warthog is being released as part of the Mattel Brick Shop Elite Series, which focuses on detailed vehicles intended for construction and display.
Most Mattel Brick Shop releases are based on real-world cars, including models from manufacturers such as Lamborghini, Audi and Aston Martin. The Halo collaboration expands the line into science-fiction vehicles while retaining the Hot Wheels connection through the included die-cast model.
Mattel is presenting the set as a tribute to the franchise’s 25th anniversary. The original Halo: Combat Evolved launched alongside the first Xbox in November 2001, introducing the Warthog as one of the game’s most memorable vehicles.
Preorders Are Now Open
The Halo UNSC M12 Warthog building set is currently listed for preorder through Mattel Creations.
The official U.S. price is $76, although pricing and availability may differ between countries. Mattel’s regional listings indicate that shipping is expected to begin in October 2026.
With its functional suspension, interchangeable parts, metal details and matching Hot Wheels vehicle, the set is designed primarily for adult Halo collectors rather than as a conventional action-figure playset.
