Star Detective Precure! Movie Unveils Main Trailer, Production Staff and Ending Theme

The upcoming Star Detective Precure! anime film has released its full main trailer, offering a closer look at the magical mystery awaiting the Precure team this September.

Officially titled Star Detective Precure! The Movie: The Mysterious Garden and the Two Secrets, the film will open in Japanese theaters on September 18, 2026. The newly released footage introduces the movie’s original characters, expands on the central investigation and confirms appearances from heroes of two previous Precure television series.

A New Case Begins With the Mysterious “X Mark Incidents”

The film begins as Anna Akechi, Mikuru Kobayashi and their companions investigate a strange series of events spreading through the city.

Objects marked with an X suddenly stop moving or become impossible to use, causing trouble for their owners. While investigating these unexplained incidents, the group is approached by a fairy named Rain, who asks them to protect a girl called Karin from creatures known as Dame-Dames.

Rain leads the detectives to Karin’s Garden, a beautiful and dreamlike location filled with flowers, magical creatures and an old castle. There, the group meets Karin and another fairy named Alan, who appears deeply committed to protecting her.

The peaceful setting does not remain safe for long. Dame-Dames begin appearing inside the garden, suggesting that Karin, Alan and Rain are connected to a much larger mystery. The film’s title indicates that two closely guarded secrets will become central to solving the case.

Cure Eclair Joins the Investigation

The trailer features the four principal heroes of the current series: Cure Answer, Cure Mystique, Cure Eclair and Cure Arcana Shadow.

Cure Eclair’s appearance is particularly notable because her transformation was first shown in the television episode broadcast on the same day as the trailer’s release. The film will bring the complete current team together as they attempt to uncover the truth behind the garden and the Dame-Dames.

Cure Arcana Shadow is also shown participating in the adventure despite her unusual position in the television story. Although she is a Precure, she has operated as part of Phantom, creating uncertainty about her intentions and her relationship with the other heroines.

The trailer suggests that the investigation will require the characters to combine separate clues rather than defeat the threat through combat alone, preserving the detective theme that distinguishes the 2026 television series.

You and Idol Precure♪ and Wonderful Precure! Return

The movie will also feature characters from You and Idol Precure♪ and Wonderful Precure!.

The returning heroes are visible in the new trailer and main visual, creating another crossover between the current Precure generation and the two series that directly preceded it. Their involvement will expand the conflict beyond the four Star Detective Precure! heroines.

The crossover is especially intriguing because Star Detective Precure! uses time travel as an important part of its premise. Anna originally comes from 2027 but is transported to 1999, where she meets Mikuru and begins working at the Cure-at Detective Agency.

The official announcement has not yet fully explained how characters from the later-set You and Idol Precure♪ and Wonderful Precure! stories will reach the movie’s setting.

Hanako Ueda Directs the Film

Hanako Ueda is directing the movie for Toei Animation. Ueda previously worked as an episode director and storyboard artist on several Precure productions, including Wonderful Precure! and You and Idol Precure♪.

Yoshimi Narita is writing the screenplay. Narita has a long history with the franchise and previously handled series composition for Wonderful Precure!.

The confirmed production staff includes:

Original Creator: Izumi Todo
Director: Hanako Ueda
Screenplay: Yoshimi Narita
Music: Erika Fukasawa and Misaki Umase
Character Design and Chief Animation Director: Emiko Miyamoto
Art Director: Risa Fujii
Color Design: Satoshi Takezawa
Director of Photography: Takumi Arai
Production Manager: Hirotaka Naota

Emiko Miyamoto previously served as the character designer for Witchy Precure!, making her return especially relevant to the film’s combination of magical fantasy and colorful character animation.

“FIRST PRISM” Serves as the Ending Theme

The film’s ending theme is titled “FIRST PRISM.”

The song is performed by Yuka Masui and Chihaya Yoshitake, with lyrics written by Sumiyo Mutsumi. Misaki Umase composed and arranged the track. The dance accompanying “FIRST PRISM” will also appear during the movie itself.

The production has additionally announced an insert song titled “First Step,” performed by Ami Ishii. Shoko Omori wrote its lyrics, while Umase again handled composition and arrangement.

Dance lesson videos have been released for both songs, allowing fans to learn the choreography before the theatrical premiere.

The two tracks will receive a physical single release in Japan on September 16, two days before the film opens. A soundtrack featuring music by Erika Fukasawa and Misaki Umase is scheduled for the same date.

Miracle Lights Return to Precure Theaters

Young audience members will receive a Pochitan Miracle Light at participating screenings while supplies last.

The item plays a role inside the movie and marks the return of Miracle Lights for the first time since Precure All Stars F in 2023. These illuminated accessories traditionally allow children in the audience to encourage the Precure characters during major moments in the film.

The latest trailer shows the fairy characters raising the lights to support the heroes, indicating that audience participation will once again be incorporated into the story’s climax.

The Mystery Opens in September

The new trailer establishes the film as more than a straightforward crossover battle. Karin’s identity, the nature of the Dame-Dames and the relationship between Alan and Rain all appear to form parts of the central puzzle.

No international theatrical or streaming release has been announced at this time.

Star Detective Precure! The Movie: The Mysterious Garden and the Two Secrets opens across Japan on September 18, 2026.
